The landmark exhibition, Walking and Thinking and Walking, curated by Bruce W. Ferguson, first appeared in 1996 at the Louisiana Art Museum in Denmark, where it set out to investigate the politics of moving through the space of the museum in attentive, distracted, and reflexive ways. The Museum of Walking recreates the exhibition in mimeograph, with original catalogue essay by Rebecca Solnit; author of Wanderlaust: A History of Walking.
Works in Museum of Walking: Walking and Thinking and Walking are xerox copies of pieces in the original exhibition. This educational exhibition is re-presented by Krista Davis, Angela Ellsworth, Lena Klett, Kim Lyle, Val Lyons, Cydnei Mallory, Lily Montgomery, Andrew Noble, and Priya Thoresen.
